HADES Network Configuration in Counting House
Network Switches
After a discussion with Mathias Mnch today (2006-05-18) we can assume the following:
- The maintainance of the Foundry Switch is in the moment regulated by a contract and the contracted-company is obliged to come in a case of a failure in 4 hours with replacement parts.
This contract will be changed in the future, but then there will be replacement switches (48 ports) available in the IT department.
- So, we don't have to worry about a broken switch, the IT department will help in case of a failure and we don't need to buy replacment equipment.
Infos
- Info (2005-09-15): The Netgear-Switch (20 ports) is dropping some UDP packets, so it can not be used for the DAQ!
The current network connections
Since the responsibility for the patching of the network connections in the counting house is with the HADES group, the actual layout should be documented here.
The following tables should be updated whenever a change to the cabling of the connections between the switches Foundry, Netgear and the patch pannels in the network cabinet in the HADES counting house are done.
